Mike Hennessey

Mike's passion to help others led him to launch Agapé Counselling Services in May 2017.   Mike is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) with the College of Counselling Therapists of NB (CCTNB).  He is also a certified career development practitioner with the NB Career Development Association (NBCDA), where he also serves as a member of the Board.  His services as a counsellor can be covered by some Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). 

Mike has also served at Capital Community Church as Youth Pastor and Student Pastor.  His experience working with teenagers and adults from many different backgrounds has equipped him to assist you in your journey.

Mike is a member of Pabineau First Nation in northern New Brunswick.  He recently completed his Master of Education degree in Counselling at the University of New Brunswick.  His thesis entitled, “The effect of social variables on the career aspirations of New Brunswick Aboriginal adults”, was completed in the fall of 2016 and an article was published in the Winter 2018 edition of the Canadian Journal of Career Development (CJCD).

Kathy Hennessey
Learning Specialist
Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum Studies

Kathy is a teacher with nine (9) years experience working in Anglophone School District West (ASD-W). She taught grades 3 and 4 at New Maryland and Connaught Street Schools, including the following subjects: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Health. She also led and supported teachers to become more effective practitioners as a Literacy Lead in ASD-W. She graduated from UNB’s Masters of Education program in 2017 with a focus on curriculum studies. She is uniquely qualified to work with children in literacy and numeracy, as her experience as a Literacy Lead exposed her to best practices in teaching. These best practices are applied to student learning on an individualized basis.

Rachel Cole, M.Ed.

Licensed Counselling Therapist Intern (LCT-C)

Rachel is a recent graduate of the Masters of Education in Counselling program at the University of New Brunswick.  One of Rachel’s passions is improving mental health in children across New Brunswick. She is qualified to work with clients dealing with mental health challenges associated with stress, anxiety, depression, family conflict, and more. She has worked exclusively with children over the past 3 years while coordinating and facilitating a daycare program. She has also had experience working with children and adults the past 3 months providing support through a counselling environment. She is currently working under the supervision of Mike Hennessey in providing guidance services at Mah Sos School in Tobique First Nation.
